This resin project is done on a pre-framed round canvas, purchased here:
Oval Canvas (This is oval, not round, but you should be able to find a round one once they come back in stock, using this link!)

The neat thing about this project is that you have the option to use your final piece as wall art or a serving tray, or both! That’s some functional art!
This is a beginners project, as the framed canvas makes the resin process much easier.  The trick is to use different types of mediums in your resin.  Here are just a few of the mediums I use together in most of my pieces:

Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint

Envirotex Lite Epoxy Resin

Pearl Ex Pigments:   this is the kit I have and I love it

Dr. Ph Martin’s India Ink

Alcohol Inks

For beginners, I suggest starting with a framed canvas like this one, and picking 3-4 colors for your project.  For best results, pick a dark color, light color, accent color, and a metallic.  Use a different medium for each, such as alcohol inks, acrylic inks, acrylic Paints, pigment powders, spray paint, etc.
Budget friendly options/tips:

-eyeshadows work just like pigment powders and you can get some really cool colors at your local dollar store if you don’t already have some in the back of your makeup drawer!

-food coloring works to give a transparent look to your resin, just like alcohol inks.  Food coloring works great with a little silicone oil mixed in it if you want a cell, lacing effect in your piece

Last tip of the day: KNOW WHEN TO STOP.  DO NOT WORK YOUR RESIN INTO A MUDDY MESS.  THE EFFECTS WILL HAPPEN AFTER YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE PIECE.  trust in the process.
